Over My Craving?

Hi! It’s Emily, one of the Fit Friends from Joy’s LIFE Diet Challenge on the Today show.
It is Day 3 of the diet, and can it be possible – have I already kicked my Diet Coke craving?
I used to drink a lot of diet soda, I would guess between 4 and 6 cans a day. I would drink it in the morning, at lunch, right before bed, anytime you can think of; I was hooked.
Day 1, I drank a lot of coffee. I get headaches easily, and I didn’t want one from not having enough caffeine. I found myself wanting to grab a soda here and there, but I acknowledged it and drank my water instead. I didn’t really miss the soda, but I was going to it out of habit. Leaving the grocery store I thought to myself, “I should pick up a soda for the car,” but I stopped and went for water instead. When I saw other people drinking soda, I wanted to have it, but I resisted.
Day 2 I didn’t think of it as much. I jazzed up my water by adding in fresh orange and lime slices so that I didn’t get bored drinking it. I got the idea from reading a recipe in Joy’s book.
Now here I am today. I drank coffee with breakfast, and I have been drinking water non-stop. The idea of drinking soda hasn’t even crossed my mind! Can it be that I kicked my artificial sweetener habit so quickly? Having it out of my palette has made a big difference. I understand why I had to cut it out completely. I am not craving it.
I am thinking ahead to next week when I can add artificial sweetener back in as a LIFE extra. I am afraid to bring diet soda back in on a daily basis. If I can do well without it, maybe I don’t need to have it anymore, maybe I don’t want to have it anymore!
