Craving pizza? Instead of dialing up delivery, try this tasty—and so incredibly simple—homemade version. You’ll save yourself the extra calories (there are 500 calories in a New York-style slice or two small chain restaurant slices) and some cash, too. This recipe makes 1 serving
Ingredients:

SAUCE:

  • 2 heaping tablespoons tomato sauce or favorite marinara sauce
  • Pinch of oregano
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • Pinch of onion powder

PIZZA:

  • 1 large whole-grain or low-carb tortilla (any brand with no more than 80 calories per tortilla)
  • ¼ cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Oregano (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, minced
Preparation:

To make the sauce, mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Set aside.

Set the oven to broil.

To make the pizza, place the tortilla on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and put it in the oven on the top rack. Cook for about 4 minutes total, flipping after each minute. (Note: Ovens will vary, so watch carefully so the tortilla doesn’t burn.)

Remove the tortilla from the oven and spread the sauce on top, covering the majority of the tortilla except for a border of about ¼ inch all the way around.

Sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese, season with red pepper flakes and oregano, if desired, and place it back in the oven under the broiler for 30 to 45 seconds, until the cheese is melted.

Garnish with fresh basil. Cut into 4 slices and enjoy your personal pie.
