Joy Bauer, MS, RDN, CDN

Joy Bauer is one of the nation's leading health authorities. As the nutrition and health expert for NBC’s TODAY show, Joy shares reliable, practical, and straightforward advice that helps millions of Americans eat better and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. She also hosts the program’s popular “Joy Fit Club” series, which celebrates determined people who have lost more than 100 pounds through diet and exercise alone.

As a monthly columnist for Woman’s Day magazine and the creator of JoyBauer.com, Joy continues to be a leader in developing and delivering fresh, cutting edge health content to millions.  She’s been featured countless times in prominent publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, People, US Weekly, Cosmo, Vogue, SELF, Glamour, and Wall Street Journal, to name a few.

Joy is a #1 New York Times bestselling author with 11 books under her belt, including her latest releases, The Joy Fit Club: Cookbook, Diet Plan & Inspiration and Joy Bauer’s Food Cures.

Joy is the nutritionist for the New York City Ballet and has a clientele that includes high-profile professionals, celebrity actors, fashion models and Olympic athletes (including Gold-medal winners).  

Joy received her Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from University of Maryland and a master of science in nutrition from New York University. At the beginning of her career, Joy completed a five-year post as Director of Nutrition and Fitness for “Heart-Smart Kids”, a program for underprivileged children that she developed for The Mount Sinai Medical Center’s Department of Pediatric Cardiology in New York City. Joy also served as a nutrition consultant for Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, was a clinical nutritionist with the neurosurgical team at The Mount Sinai Medical Center – and taught Anatomy and Physiology and Sports Nutrition at New York University’s School of Continuing Education.

Passionate about delivering scientifically sound health information, Joy received the 2010 National Media Excellence Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the 2012 American Society of Nutrition Science Media Award.

Joy lives in New York with her husband Ian, her daughters Jesse and Ayden Jane, and her son Cole. She strongly believes that it’s never too early or late to reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
